Robert Talbott
Robert Talbott Inc. came into being in 1950 when Robert and Audrey arrived in Carmel from a successful life in the New York City and Connecticut, bringing with them a sense of Eastern Tradition and an innate understanding of the extraordinary power of quality.
In 1985, Audrey, a retail buyer before her marriage, directed the opening of the first Robert Talbott shop in Carmel, followed by the shop at Pebble Beach in 1968. In 1992 she brought a long time dream to reality when she launched the Talbott show-case shop on New York’s Madison Avenue. The introduction in 2001 of Robert Talbott to Highland Park Village, in Dallas completes a successful retail vision.
Like the company itself, the product line grew slowly but steadily. Out of Talbott’s commitment to the finest fabrics and design evolved the “Best of Class” neckwear collection in 1980 followed by the luxurious seven-fold ties in 1986. Dress shirts in 1990, paved the way for sport shirts in 1996 and sweaters in 2000. Most recent additions are cufflinks, shearling and leather outerwear and belts. All products that maintain the same superior quality demanded by Robert Talbott.
Today Audrey Talbott’s pursuit of luxury continues, with an exquisite collection of women’s shirts, shearling and leather outerwear, scarves, sweaters and belts.
The same tone set by Robert Talbott in 1950 continues to guide the company today. “If you want to be number one in your industry, you must set the pace, you must create the finest product, and you must be number one in serving your customers. You must also be number one in your ability to create a loyal and motivated group of employees”.
Today, Robert Talbott Inc. maintains this philosophy, employing 250 people at its facility on the Monterey Peninsula, Loyal and Motivated employees who continue to produce the finest quality men’s and women’s apparel in America.
